Education: State University of New York at Buffalo BS in Psychology 1976 State University of New York at Buffalo MS in Occupational Therapy 1979 I have been fortunate to take lessons with several local artists including Walter Hatke, Trudi Smith, and John Hampshire. It was at the Woodstock School of Art that I began taking workshops with Karen O'Neil. Karen was a student of Henry Hensche at his Cape School of Art in Cape Cod, and it was her teachings of color and light that have inspired me to capture these effects in my paintings. Artist statement: I have always had the need to be creative. And when I was finally able to in 2006, I retired from being an Occupational Therapist and began to paint full time. I try to capture the moment that inspired the painting, that brief visual stillness when objects are seen as a completed work. All of life's daily interactions have disappeared and only the color of my paint and my brushstrokes remain. I work from life using natural light and paint simplified forms of everyday objects. My goal is to create that sense of light and freshness of each day in my paintings.
